Methodology
How we research
We’re cat owners and researchers, not veterinarians. So instead of asking you to trust us, we show where every answer comes from.
- Primary sources first. Every verdict starts from authoritative references: ASPCA Animal Poison Control, the Merck Veterinary Manual, WSAVA nutrition guidelines and veterinary colleges such as the Cornell Feline Health Center.
- Cautious when evidence is thin. Some risks are documented mainly in dogs (grapes, xylitol) or are genuinely debated (avocado). We say so on the page and take the conservative position.
- Automated quality gates. A page can only publish if it has a resolved verdict, a written mechanism, FAQs and at least one authoritative citation. Pages that fail are never indexed.
- Dated and maintained. Each page shows when it was last updated. We revisit pages when guidance changes, and correct errors promptly when readers report them.
Not veterinary advice. Our guides summarise published references for general information. Your vet knows your cat — always ask them about health decisions. Read the full disclaimer.
Found an error? Let us know and we’ll fix it promptly.
